Eddie Murphy is a grandfather to Evie, Zuri, Ari and a grandson

Eddie Murphy is a proud father and grandfather.
The former Saturday Night Live comedian has welcomed 10 children over the years, and a few of them have kids of their own. Eddie became a grandfather in 2019 when his fourth child, Myles Murphy, welcomed a daughter, Evie Isla Murphy, with Carly Fink, whom he later wed in 2023. They expanded their family in 2024 when they welcomed their second daughter, Zuri Liv Murphy.
In November 2025, Eddie's eldest daughter, Bria Murphy, announced that she was pregnant with her first child with her husband, Michael Xavier. Just a few months later, his first child, son Eric Murphy, also announced that he and wife, Jasmin Lawrence, were expecting their first child together.
The Coming 2 America star later confirmed in April that Eric and Jasmin had welcomed their first baby, a girl, and named her Ari Skye. He also revealed that he had welcomed his first grandson two months prior. While Eddie has kept much of his family's life private over the years, he has previously said that there is "no higher blessing than having a child" — including grandchildren.
"Things happen in cycles, and right now I’m in a cycle where there’s no higher blessing than having a child," he told Vanity Fair in 2020. "There’s no sweeter blessing than seeing your grandchild. So right now I’m in a period of just raining blessings on me."

He became a grandfather in 2019

Eddie's legacy expanded to a new generation in 2019 when his son Myles — whom he welcomed with then-wife Nicole Mitchell — welcomed daughter Evie Isla with his longtime girlfriend, Carly, on July 2 of that year.
Carly posted a photo of the newborn from the hospital and wrote that she was their "entire world." Over the years, Carly has shown how Evie has grown by sharing pictures of the three spending holidays together, dressing up in group Halloween costumes and celebrating the little one's milestones.
Myles and Carly tied the knot on Sept. 9, 2023 in Beverly Hills, Calif., and announced the following August that they were expecting their second daughter. They welcomed Zuri Liv on Oct. 30, 2024.
"Thank you God, we love you so much our beautiful baby girl," Carly captioned a picture of the newborn.
Since then, Carly has shared several sweet moments of her girls bonding.
Eddie announced that Eric and his wife, Jasmin, welcomed a baby girl in April 2026

Eric, who is Eddie's eldest child, shares a child with his wife, Martin Lawrence's daughter Jasmin.
The couple, who married in May 2025, previously announced on Instagram in February 2026 that they were expecting. They shared a black and white photo that showcased Jasmin's baby bump, while Eric rested his head on her belly.
"Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift ❤️❤️❤️," they wrote in a joint caption.

The following month, Eric and Jasmin celebrated the news with their loved ones at a baby shower. During the event, Jasmin revealed their future child's name.
"Ari Skye," she said in an Instagram Stories video of her rubbing her belly. "Mommy loves you so much. This day is all for you.”
In April 2026, Eddie broke the news that they were officially parents and had welcomed Ari Skye.
“They just had a baby girl,” Murphy told E! News at the American Film Institute Achievement Award Ceremony on April 18. “They just had her two weeks ago, or a week ago. Yeah, Ari. Ari Skye.”
When asked if he had passed on any advice, Eddie quipped that parenting is something "you don't give advice" about.
“Oh, you don't give advice like that,” he explained. “You know, your kids don't go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you.”
Murphy continued, “The stuff you be saying, they don't even pay that s--t no mind. They watch and see what you do. So, I don't give a lot of advice.”

In November 2025, Bria — Eddie's eldest daughter with Mitchell — revealed that she was pregnant at the premiere of her dad's documentary, Being Eddie.
Bria smiled for several photos alongside her dad and six of her siblings. Prior to sharing her exciting news, Bria married her husband, Michael, in July 2022.
In April 2026, Eddie told Entertainment Tonight that he "just had my first grandson two months ago."
Eddie wants his grandkids to call him "papa"

Shortly after Eddie became a grandfather, he sat down for an interview with Vanity Fair where he was asked what he hopes his eldest grandchild — and therefore the rest of the grandchildren — calls him.
"She’s calling me Papa," he told the publication. "She can’t talk yet. But that’s what it will be. You got to tell them what your name is. I’m Papa. I hope."
His hopes appear to be coming true, since Carly referred to Eddie as "Papa" in a sweet 2021 video of Evie playing piano alongside Eddie.
