Angelina Jolie and Gizelle Bryant celebrated each of their daughters over the weekend.
The Oscar winner and *Real Housewives of Potomac *star were both in attendance at a mother-daughter brunch hosted by the Pearls of Purpose Foundation and the Nu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College on Sunday, April 26 in Atlanta. Jolie's daughter Zahara attends Spelman along with Bryant's daughter Angel.
Jolie and Zahara posed for a photo with Bryant and Angel, which the reality star later shared on her Instagram Story, along with text reading, "Mother Daughter Magic."
Bryant is an alumni of the historic African American sorority, which was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Her daughter Adore, who attends Hampton University in Hampton, Va., is also a member. Bryant's third daughter, Grace, is currently a sophomore at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Fla. ****Zahara took the stage at the event to give a touching speech about her mother, whom she described as "the most selfless, loving, and understanding woman."
"When I was asked today to speak on the value of mother-daughter relationships, it felt challenging to find the words," Zahara said as her mother watched, per a Facebook video. "Not challenging because I don’t value it, but because my mom and I have a unique, almost kindred, relationship that can be hard to put into words."

"Our love for each other is a found one. I was adopted at 6 months old and given some of the most special and loving people as my siblings, with a mom who raised us on the value of helping others, being kind and always striving for growth as people," Zahara continued. "These values may sound simple, but in a world where kindness is overlooked and helping others comes at a cost, I am grateful to have had a role model to show me what it looks like to be a decent human being."
Zahara continued by saying she, and likely many other daughters in attendance, sees her mother as a "superhero" while being unsure how she "does it."
The 21-year-old also addressed both her and her family's fame, saying that when she was accepted into Spelman in 2022 and her sorority in 2023, she knew she would face "big changes" in her life.
"Early on, I realized it would be challenging to include my mom and family in these worlds without being able to directly share the effects," she shared. "With the addition of the public life that we live, it can be hard to find those special and intimate moments without being overwhelmed with the many eyes that are on us."
Zahara continued, "This has never stopped my mom from being curious about all that I’m learning in and outside of my classrooms at Spelman and having many understandable questions about sorority life and my experiences. My family embraces the newness and strives to understand these meaningful organizations in my life as I share my experiences."
The Spelman student ended her speech by thanking her mother, adding, "I’m a strong woman because a strong woman raised me."

Following Zahara's speech, Jolie took the stage to thank both the sorority and foundation for honoring her and her daughter at the event. Jolie also reflected on her own relationship with her mother Marcheline Bertrand, whom she called her "best friend."
The *Maleficent* actress said when she lost her mother — Bertrand died from ovarian and breast cancer on Jan. 27, 2007, at the age of 56 — she thought she would feel an "emptiness" forever. Her children, which include Zahara, 17-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, daughter Shiloh, 19, and sons Pax, 23, and Maddox, 24, have helped to ease that pain.
"When I didn't know what to do, I would sit in silence and try to imagine what my own mother would say," Jolie said, adding that she feels her mother has helped her raise her children even after her passing.
"She would be so proud of you and the woman you have become," Jolie said of Zahara.**
