Luke Hemsworth spoke to The Guardian about his acting career, including his new movie Beast
Being the brother of Chris and Liam Hemsworth, he said, “It's actually been a lot more difficult” to book acting jobs
To forge his own path in Hollywood, Luke must “be very specific about who I am,” he said
Luke Hemsworth is opening up about working in the biz as part of a trio of famous brothers.
“I think there's an assumption that life is easy if you have the Hemsworth name, that you're gonna get roles super easily,” said the 45-year-old brother of Chris and Liam Hemsworth, speaking to The Guardian about his new mixed martial arts movie Beast.
“In my experience, it's actually been a lot more difficult, and it comes with a stigma,” Luke explained.
Being the sibling of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Thor and a Hunger Games star, “There is kind of baggage that's left over… Most of it is, ‘Oh, you're really short!' ” he says.

To differentiate himself from his famous brothers while pursuing onscreen work, Luke must “be very specific about who I am,” he said. “But it still gets confusing. Every now and again, someone calls me Liam.” At a recent Beast premiere, in fact, filmmaker Rob Carlton introduced him as such, the Westworld star added.

“So I have to be very aware of my craft, making sure I've really prepared. That sounds like a no-brainer, but I've had to really work, really dive deep into that part of my game,” continued Luke. “But I love it. I've had all these beautiful character roles.”
All three Hemsworth brothers have made names for themselves in Hollywood after growing up in Australia with parents Craig and Leonie. In March, Luke reflected with E! News on never having costarred with either brother onscreen.
The three have “talked about it a lot,” said Luke at the time. “I think we all just need to find the right project.” Chris, 42, needs to get “booked in about two years in advance,” he quipped, as the Thor star is “incredibly in demand.”

Speaking to The Guardian, Luke said that he and his brothers have weekly family reunions to watch mixed martial arts competitors in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on TV.
“It was a big part of growing up in my household with my idiot brothers, being able to protect myself from the wild throws and kicks that they'd send my way,” he recalled.
The Tyler Atkins-directed Beast, costarring Daniel MacPherson and Russell Crowe, is in theaters now. Among Luke's other upcoming projects is the horror film Ithaqua.
